The recent spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) has generated worldwide concern. At Eggemoggin Baptist Church, while the spiritual health of our members and community is the top priority, physical health is also very important. According to reports, while this virus poses little threat to younger people, there is significant risk if it is contracted by the older generation. With that in mind, we have implemented a few preventative measures:
- Frequent contact points (door knobs, bathroom fixtures, etc.) are sanitized prior to every service.
- We request that those in attendance please wash their hands well upon arrival.
- If you, or anyone in your house is not feeling well and/or experiencing flu-like symptoms, please consider remaining at home until you feel better.
- The CDC (Center for Disease Control) recommends that people observe “social distancing.” While it may at some point be temporarily necessary, we are not currently planning on cancelling our regular services.
- If anyone does not feel comfortable attending, please do what you feel is right for yourself and your family.
- If you are unable to attend, we will be live streaming our regular services. We will also be recording the services and uploading them to the website so you will be able to listen to them.
We understand that a lot of people are scared right now. Fortunately, the Bible has a lot to say to us in moments just like this. John 14 verse 27 says, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” We live in troublesome times, but the Lord has promised to be “a very present help in times of trouble.” Finally, we are instructed in James 1:27 to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction. In that same chapter we are encouraged by the offer of wisdom from Almighty God if we but ask – “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
If you are not feeling well and need assistance, please reach out to one of us and we will do the best we can to help!
We are monitoring the latest news and updates from the CDC.
